We are both professors at a university in New York State. In fact, Doug can see Carmala's office window from his window, and our buildings are connected to one another. Several years ago, his mother and I even worked at the same department store for 3 years. I remembered her, as soon as I saw her! Even more unbelievable, we both lived in the same apartment complex for about a year and a half, and we never saw each other. His building was right across from mine!

The really surprising thing about this is that although we had never met, we live 400 feet from each other for approximately 15 years. Our children have been going to the same schools, which are 2 houses from my home, all their lives. It's funny that we probably were at the same school activities and events for years and never bumped each other. We also know some of the same neighbors. The children get along and we are very happy in our relationship. I joke with people and say that I had to go on the world wide web to meet the man around the corner!

Matt moved out of unit 3A the same month that Shannon moved in to unit 2B, which was May of 2000. We soon discovered that we SHOULD have met a long time ago!!!! We both graduated on the SAME DAY from the SAME UNIVERSITY. In fact, Andrea was in line a few places behind me. Our mothers BOTH work for the same school system as do we. We both have a close friend who is a history teacher. In fact, our history teacher friends KNOW EACH OTHER and two years ago Andrea was invited to my friend's house via her friend. Who knows? We might have met sooner! We both have a brother close to the same age. We also discovered just recently that my brother was her cousin's manager at a local grocery store. Little by little we are discovering how CLOSE we were to finding each other.

The funny thing is I probably walked by Rich a few hundred times before you introduced us! You see, Rich and I grew up in the same town where we were a year apart in the same high school-we even played in the marching band together for a year!
